About Dr. Hanne Blank Boyd

 

 

Dr. Hanne Blank Boyd is a writer and consultant whose work bridges embodied experience, sociocultural context, medical/health science, and human factors to help people thrive.

She holds a Ph.D. from Emory University, where she also earned certification in bioethics at the Emory Center for Ethics.

Her books, published under the name Hanne Blank, include Fat (Bloomsbury Academic, 2020), Straight: The Surprisingly Short History of Heterosexuality (Beacon Press, 2014) and Virgin: The Untouched History (Bloomsbury, 2007).    

Dr. Blank Boyd, who often goes by “Doctor BB,” lives in a small town in North Carolina with her husband, their dogs, and substantial collections of books, old typewriters, fountain pens, and yarn. 

She writes a Substack, “The Rest is Commentary.”
