For those of you wondering.
Yes, that’s me. I write this blog, and lots of other things besides. Mostly books.
For the record, I do not always go around wearing an antique Shriner fez and looking goofy.
Sometimes I wear headscarves and look all serious.
The headscarves come in handy when I’m working as a cook. In this picture I’m getting to the end of a service cooking Chinese dumplings at a pop-up restaurant that appears periodically at a local venue near where I live in Baltimore. (Photo credit: Heather Hulsey)
Mmmm, Chinese dumplings.
I live in Baltimore with my partner of 14 years, to whom I tend to refer as The Belovedary.
We live with two cats. The one on the left is Fez, who is 8. The one on the right is Mrs. Calabash, who is 17. We also live with a papier-mache skeleton, whose name is Maximillian and whose age is unknown.
All my work is supervised by Ushi, the world’s most adorable Japanese Akita. Ushi is 8 years old. (Photo credit: Bob Stockfield) He likes his circus-dog collar very much, actually.
As you can see, he’s a bit of a ham.
